STARMADA

The Universal Game of Starship Combat

Starmada™ is a miniatures board game of starship combat. At its most basic level, players take command of space fleets in a general attempt to reduce each other to just so much space junk. At its most advanced level, the game can be customized to breathe life into any science fiction background that players might imagine.

Novices shouldn’t fret; the core set of rules has been designed with simplicity and ease of play in mind, accessible even to beginners. On the other hand, seasoned veterans should find the concise nature of the rules quite refreshing. It allows players to concentrate on the finer points of squashing their opponents rather than arguing about rules interpretations, without sacrificing any of the flavor or excitement of more complex games.

Simple, but not simplistic, is the guiding principle.

Starmada™ is designed by our friend Daniel Kast of Majestic Twelve Games. Amarillo Design Bureau, Inc., distributes this excellent product to the wholesaler/retailer network for Majestic Twelve, and provides hard copies for sale by Majestic Twelve. (ADB, Inc., also sells hard copies.) To visit Majestic Twelve Game's forum, please click here.

Majestic Twelve also uses their game engine for Grand Fleets, a game of WW1 and WW2 naval combat. A sample from that game is here.

STARMADA will enter a new era on 23 April with the release of the new Nova Edition rulebook. Updated and improved, the new edition includes:

  • Streamlined inertial movement, with options for different settings;
  • An intuitive combat system, including three distinct layered defenses; and
  • The most comprehensive starship construction rules available anywhere!
  • Dozens of stand-alone options and advanced rules; pick the ones you want!

We will update the existing Star Fleet Starmada books to Nova Edition level during the spring and summer (Klingon Armada and Romulan Armada in May, Distant Armada and Alien Armada in June). Admiral Edition books will no longer be sold through distribution as of now, but can be special ordered.

Majestic Twelve also has errata for their starmada games.

Klingon Armada

The Klingons are coming and they are loaded for bear!

A meeting of empires as a famous game system joins the Star Fleet UniverseKlingon Armada was done as a joint venture between Amarillo Design Bureau and Majestic Twelve Games. This 86-page rulebook includes the Essential Starmada Rules, 46 starships (Klingon, Federation, Tholian, Orion, Kzinti), and complete rules to bring the Star Fleet Universe alive in the Starmada game system.

This fast-playing game easily handles squadrons of ships as they encounter their enemies and battle to see who is indeed the best commander.

Ships included are the Federation dreadnought, battlecruiser, heavy cruiser, old light cruiser, command cruiser, and frigate; the Klingon C8 dreadnought, C7 heavy battlecruiser, D7 battlecruiser, D6 heavy cruiser, D5 war cruiser, F5 frigate, and D7C command cruiser; Kzinti dreadnought, battlecruiser, and frigate; Tholian patrol corvette, Orion Raider, and many other ships. (There are a total of 46 ships.)

This edition unifies the previous Nova and Admiralty editions, so there will no longer be Starmada fans who cannot game together. The new rules preserve the best of both previous systems, and add dynamic seeking weapons rules that do what seeking weapons are supposed to do: force the enemy to move out of key areas or shoot his way through a swam of drones.

Battleships Armada

"Captain, that ship is huge!"

""Steady on! While the Klingon B10 Invincible is huge, we have enough ships to bring her down."

The most powerful ships in the galaxy have been unleashed and are now free to rain havoc upon their enemies.

The Klingons have set loose the B10 battleship Invincible upon Federation colonies. The Invincible is supported by C5 light dreadnoughts and C10 heavy super-dreadnoughts. The Federation has sent in its fleet with the battleship USS Mars at the head. It is also supported by dreadnoughts. These titans of war will clash, and who knows what will happen when they do.

There are over 60 starships, adding battleships, dreadnoughts, transports, and tugs to your fleets. There are also nine starbases to add more defenses to your systems. These are for the Federation, Gorn, Hydran, Klingon, Kzinti, Lyran, Romulan, Seltorian, and Tholian empires. The WYNs are not neglected as they get their light tactical transport with and without cargo pods.

This book is an expansion. You must have Klingon Armada Unity or Romulan Armada Unity. Play will be enhanced with the Starmada Unity Rulebook.
