Star Fleet Universe News THE BIG NEWS: This month is the release of Captain's Log #44, Starline 2500, Call to Arms: Star Fleet, and Boosters 31, 32, and 33. Starline 2500 and A Call to Arms: Star Fleet are approaching! The Starline 2500 ships are designed for use with SFB, FC, Starmada, and ACTASF, so the ship types that appear in the Squadron boxes won't change from the 2400 line (and the price for 2500 SQUADRON BOXES will actually go down to $29.95). What will change is that the 2500-series ships will be cast in hard resin, not pewter, and they will be about 20% larger so that all the details that you asked us to add will be there! Our European customers will have the option of ordering from Mongoose-UK so their shipping will be perhaps more "local." Both ADB, Inc. and Mongoose-US will stock the minis as will many game stores, so you should have easy access to these new, highly detailed ships. New 2500-series Border Boxes priced at $124.95 will contain 24 ships.
SPECIAL OFFER: We have 53 Fed clear plastic dreadnoughts on consignment. We must buy these or send them back by 31 Dec. So, we're going to fire sale them out for TWO DOLLARS each. Yes, you can buy an entire fleet of Zocchi clear plastic dreadnoughts for TWO DOLLARS each (and the bother of a quick zap of spray paint)!
WEBSITE: Our website, www.StarFleetGames.com, continues to grow and improve. You are welcome to send us your requests, comments, and suggestions. Joel Shutts, our graphics director, continues to update the website, do covers for the new products, shut down pirate websites, help out around the company, and learn more about the game business. One of our newest pages is for Starline 2500 where we display photos and 3d renders of the new starships. FACEBOOK: Jean continues to improve our page on Facebook, adding many new photos and other features. VIDEOS: StarFleetGames has taken its act to YouTube and we now have a YouTube channel. Our goal is to create a video for the new product releases during each month. We have "In the Box" videos to show you what you will see when you unpack your new game. We have also done "Spotlights" on a single product or product line. So pull up a chair and join us at the movies! Our newest uploads are: Star Fleet Marines Part 1 STARBLOG: Our StarBlog has moved to a new URL
and all links on StarFleetGames.com websites have been changed to match. The new
site is FFAC HAS A WINNER! Peter Bakija won his fifth-round game over Paul Scott. That left Peter flying his Gorn ship against Ken Lin's Kzinti. The five-turn game was exciting and Peter came out on top. This win follows on the heels of Peter's win in the Platinum Hat tournament (you can read his Victory article in Captain's Log #44). We'd like to thank Andrew J. Koch and Roger Rardain, the judges for the tournament, and Peter Bakija and Gregg Dieckhaus who helped keep things moving. MORE TOURNAMENTS ON SFBOL There's really never a dull period in the tournaments on SFBOL. We have two current contests and a playtest of a new Andromedan TC. Rated Ace Tournament 37 with judge Kerry Mullen is in the opening stages. Some Round 1 games have been played (many against BYE who must be the worst SFB player EVER) as well as some second-round games. Masters 2011 has completed all first-round games. This challenging format has the winner of a round flying his opponent's ship in the next round. Andrew J. Koch is the judge for the Masters tournament. Finally, the playtest of the Andromedan TC is being run by Peter Bakija. This initial run has pitted four players flying the Andromedan ship against people flying a Lyran, an Orion (HHgbb), a Gorn, and the WYN Shark (bb). Each Andromedan player will face each of the various empires. Download Transmissions HAILING FREQUENCIES: This is our newsletter and will let you know all the news for all our games. We are very pleased to see the medals, honor bars, and ribbons awarded to players being incorporated into their signatures. It is exciting to see lots of interesting conversations about a wide variety of subjects. Get in on the activity! While for new players the Federation Commander Forum is a little easier to
manage, the original (Discus-based) BBS is where most product development
takes place. If you have a proposal you'd like to see worked on, don't forget to
make sure it is mentioned here. It also has active F&E and SFB forums where
players run campaigns, Rated Ace tournaments and other SFB tournaments are organized (most FC tournaments are organized on the Forum), SVC's "My
Day" appears, along with current news and strategies dealing with Prime Directive, and each issue of Captain's Log is created. While less colorful
(no avatars or sigs), it is a vital part of ADB, Inc.'s communication. When placing power in the batteries of Andromedan ships, some players may be tempted to fill the batteries up "evenly," placing equal power in each battery.
Bombers may choose to come to close range to use their heavy weapons and phasers (many have phaser-2s), and here ships can fight back with tractors.
F&E Strategy of the Month One seldom-used rule in Planetary Operations is blockade running (other than when it is used for running Economic Points back and forth to the WYN Cluster). If you are defending your own territory, there may be a much better use for raiding ships: blockade running and remaining in a friendly hex.
Demotivationals Throughout the month our graphics director places on the website various cards called Demotivationals. These are like postcards with a image and a phrase that is often used for humor. To see our previous Demotivationals click here. Mini of the Month Federation Dreadnought |

New Releases Communique #72 has been posted to the Commander's Circle. Recently Released To be Released in 2012 PDF SALES: ADB, Inc. continues its relationship with Steve Jackson Games and their e23 Warehouse. We chose e23 because they have a philosophy that agrees with ours -- our customers are honest and honorable and wouldn't aid people who want to steal our products. Furthermore, we know from experience how devastating a computer crash can be and want our customers to know that they don't have to worry about the loss of their e-products bought through e23. What do we have there? We have created a new page that allows easy access to our PDFs for sale on e23. From here you can see what we currently have posted and have links to those products. Star Fleet Fiction Dunn braced his back against a panel and heaved himself up off the floor. His entire body ached; the parts of it that weren't numb anyway. Should have been strapped in my chair. He had been leaning over the weapons console when the exchange had occurred, the Bridge had been damaged. That didn't happen often, but perhaps half the panels he could see were visibly damaged, blinking, or off-line. Damn. He was still a little shaky, reached a hand out to steady himself. A young ensign, approached him. Q: I want to convert my Kzinti CVH to a BCV(H). Can I do this for the same cost as a CV-to-BCV conversion?
Q: I noticed the E3 module is being released and saw the sketches on ADB's page
on Facebook. When are you going to spec out the Borak so we can play them?
Send questions to Jean at design@StarFleetGames.com and SVC will decide which one Jean will answer next. Cool Stuff on the Website In this section we will provide links to various web pages and items that we think you will find "cool".
